Functional Medicine Consultations

We practice medicine using a Functional Medicine model which is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach that empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness.

Prior to you visit, you will complete detailed history questionnaires.  This allows your provider to take into account your genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your current level of health. Telemedicine visits are available.

This also helps us to personalize your treatment plan.  This individualized approach leads to improved health outcomes.  One condition may have many different causes and, likewise, one cause may result in many different conditions. As a result, we target the specific manifestations of disease in each individual.

Integrative Treatment Plans

Integrative treatment plans combine recommendations from conventional and alternative modalities.  An integrative approach to healthcare is patient focused and seeks to address all aspects of an individual including biological, behavioral, psychosocial and environmental influences.

During the initial visit pertinent lifestyle, environmental, emotional and spiritual assessments are made.  Treatment for current issues are addressed along with overall health promotion and disease prevention strategies. Effective interventions that are natural and less invasive are offered. The focus of the plan is to assist the body's own healing process.

Recommendations are made to address multiple aspects of an individual's health and may include components like nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress, supplements, medications, lab work, and referrals to other integrative or conventional specialists.

Nutritional Plans

Nutritional plans should be individualized to address personal health needs.  There are many effective nutritional plans out there, but not every plan is appropriate for every person.  During your consultation with one of our providers, a personalized nutritional plan will be provided to help you meet your health goals.

Starting a new nutritional plan is time consuming and challenging.  That is why we offer different levels of support programs to help you navigate your way around new shopping lists, recipes and meal planning.

Some of the different types of eating plans we may recommend for patients include:

  • Elimination Diet

  • Autoimmune Paleo Diet

  • Ketogenic Diet

  • Mediterranean Diet

  • Plant Based Diet

  • Low FODMAPS diet

  • Candida Diet

  • Low Histamine Diet

Advanced lab testing is an important part of helping to provide individualized treatment solutions.  In order to get to the root cause of symptoms, sometimes it is important to dig in and explore lab values that traditional medical providers do not check.  These lab tests include:

  • Salivary hormone levels

  • Stool & microbiome testing

  • Advanced lipids

  • Inflammatory markers

  • Genetics

  • Food sensitivity

  • Food allergy

  • Mold exposure

  • Environmental Toxins

  • Heavy metal exposure

  • Micronutrient levels

  • Fatty acid levels

  • Thyroid antibodies

  • Full thyroid panel

  • Neurotransmitters

  • Urine metabolites

Nutritional IV Therapy

We use intravenous nutritional therapy to provide replacement of nutritional deficiencies that may result from a variety of situations.

Poor gut health may prevent nutrient absorption from food.  Nutrient depletion can result from dietary choices or growing conditions foods are cultivated in. Certain medications may rapidly deplete nutrients, causing a deficit. Common culprits are birth control pills, acid blockers, antibiotics, antihypertensive medications, anti seizure medications and pharmaceutically manufactured synthetic hormone medications.

Intravenous nutritional therapy has been clinically found to improve asthma, migraine headache, acute and chronic fatigue, seasonal allergies, chronic sinusitis, acute upper respiratory infections, muscle spasms, fibromyalgia, and stress.

IV Therapy can be tailored to your needs but most common nutrients we use with patients include:

  • Meyer's Cocktail (blend of magnesium, calcium, B-vitamins (including B12), and Vitamin C)

  • Glutathione

  • Vitamin C

Pharmaceutical Grade Supplements

Not all supplements are the same. There is little regulation regarding the quality of raw ingredients that can be formulated into a supplement.

Additionally, there is little regulation regarding supplement quality and accuracy of labeling.  Pharmaceutical grade supplement companies have high standards regarding the quality of raw ingredients they obtain, testing these ingredients prior to using them.

Once a supplement has been made, these companies send it for third party testing to ensure the accuracy and quality of the end product.  This rigorous testing is designed not only to ensure that the end product has exactly what is on the label, but also ensures that no impurities or other substances make it into your supplement.

You can access our online dispensary from Fullscript and order pharmaceutical grade supplements any time from the convenience of home.

Compounded Medications

Your medication can sometimes needs to be as tailored to suite your needs, and this is where compounded medication solutions can be the answer.  Whether you have sensitivities to common fillers used in traditional medications or you need a dose that is not available on the market, compounding offers solutions to work for you.

Compounding pharmacists can be an essential member of your care team, helping to formulate the best medication to meet your needs.  Our providers are familiar with prescribing compounded medications, along with routine prescriptions.

Often compounded medications are considered an out of pocket expense.  A flex spending card can be used to pay for these prescriptions. Some insurance companies will pay for certain compounded formulations, especially if there is not a standard formulation available.  However, the cost of compounded prescriptions can sometimes offer hundreds of dollars in savings compared to traditional medications that are billed through a pharmacy to insurance companies.

We are happy to work with our patients to find the most affordable medication solutions to meet your needs.

Bio-identical Hormone Replacement

We offer customized hormone therapy for women and men for whom it is indicated.  Bio-identical hormones are chemically the same as what your body makes, as compared with synthetic hormones that work more like drugs.

We take your history, personal preferences and lab values into consideration when formulating a therapeutic plan for you. While conventional hormone treatment for women focuses on estrogen and for men the focus is on testosterone - a holistic approach to hormone balance will take a more comprehensive look at your steroid hormones.

Essential steroid hormone balance includes estrogens, progesterone, testosterone and DHEA for women and for men includes estrogens, testosterone (both free and total) and DHEA.

Since hormone work synergistically, for optimal results we also make sure thyroid and adrenal hormones are balances as well.

By working directly with compounding pharmacists

we are able to help you get powerful results by creating customized skin care products using only the ingredients you need most.

From antioxidants and biopeptides to retinols and hyaluronic acids, the possibilities are endless to help address your personal skin care needs.

Creams and serums can be compounded while respecting skin sensitivities and allergies, as well as avoiding harmful chemicals found in many over the counter skin care products.

MicroChanneling creates tiny perforations in the skin that initiate a natural healing response. These perforations initiate a healing cascade that produces new collagen and elastin resulting in firmer, healthier skin.

The microchanneling procedure incorporates a variety of high potency skin formulations during your session.

Your protocol is customized for you and often includes serums and creams created by a compound pharmacist to suit your specific needs.  It can also include the topical application of your body's own plasma proteins (PRP), which contain natural growth factors and can help induce collagen production in the skin.

These customized approaches help deliver natural and lasting results.

If you are interested in starting your Microchanneling and personalized skin care treatments from the comfort of your own home, we also have home skin care microchanneling packages.
